Updated Q2 2026

About Capitol Hill

Capitol Hill is Denver's densest and most eclectic urban neighborhood, located just east of the State Capitol and Civic Center Park. It is the cultural heartbeat of Denver, known for its nightlife, historic architecture, and walkable streets. The neighborhood attracts a diverse mix of young professionals, artists, students, and long-time residents who value urban living and cultural access.

Location

Immediately southeast of downtown Denver, bordered by Broadway, Colfax Avenue, York Street, and 6th Avenue. Downtown is 5–10 minutes by car or easily walkable. Served by numerous RTD bus lines and close to Broadway and 10th/Osage light rail stations. I-25 is accessible within minutes via 6th Avenue.

Price range

Historic Victorian homes, early 1900s brick apartment buildings, and mid-century apartment complexes. Condos and apartments dominate the market, with occasional single-family Victorians. Rental inventory is extensive.

Schools

Denver Public Schools (DPS)

Dora Moore ECE-8 School is well-regarded. East High School serves the area and is one of Denver's most iconic schools. The neighborhood is not primarily family-oriented, so school considerations are less central than in suburban areas.

Lifestyle & Recreation

Arguably Denver's best restaurant and bar scene, with hundreds of options along Broadway and Colfax — from James Beard-nominated restaurants to dive bars. Live music venues include the Ogden Theatre and Bluebird Theater. Independent bookstores, the Denver Botanic Gardens, and Cheesman Park provide culture and green space. The neighborhood hosts Denver PrideFest activities and cultural events year-round.

Who Lives Here

Young professionals (20s–30s) dominate, along with students and artists. It is one of Denver's most diverse neighborhoods by age, income, and background. Buyers tend to be singles or couples seeking a car-optional, walkable urban lifestyle.

What Makes It Unique

Capitol Hill is Denver's cultural nucleus — the neighborhood where the city's creative, culinary, and nightlife scenes converge in a walkable, historic setting that feels more like a major East Coast urban neighborhood than typical Colorado.
